Chirnside is a hillside village located in the picturesque Scottish Borders with open views towards the Cheviot Hills. It is located 9 miles west of the historic border town of Berwick upon Tweed and 6 miles east of Duns, the county town of Berwickshire.

The Whiteadder River runs close to the village and offers excellent fishing, being a tributary of the Tweed. The surrounding countryside offers ample opportunities for the walker or cyclist.

Chirnside is proud to have been the home of Jim Clark the former World Champion Formula One racing car driver who is buried in the Kirk opposite the pub.

David Hume, the Scottish Enlightenment philosopher, grew up close to the village at Ninewells, which is a short walk from the pub.
